Poster In 1964 the European Community recommended the appointment of councils for recently migrated residents. On 23. June 1980 a coordinating committee was set up for the first time in Regensburg to take care of the needs of foreign citizens. In 1993 this committee was replaced by the Foreigner’s Advisory Council.

The Foreigner’s Advisory Council encourages the equal treatment of Germans and non-Germans. It supports integrative projects and events thereby facilitating dialogue between the cultures. It aims to encourage mutual understanding between the German and the foreign population as well as to improve the living conditions of the foreigners living here. It has the task of advising the Regensburg City Council in all matters affecting the foreign population.

The Foreigner’s Advisory Council represents the interests of the nearly 12, 000 foreigners living in Regensburg, irrespective of their political, religious or social convictions.

The Foreigner’s Advisory Council is a member of the Association of Foreigner’s Advisory Councils in Bavaria and the Network for Tolerance and Democracy and is representedin the Cultural Council.

The administration office is the starting point for all wanting to contact the Foreigner’s Advisory Council or those wishing to find out about their work.

Structure
The Foreigner’s Advisory Council is made up of voting members and advising members. The voting members were elected in June 2009 by the foreign population in Regensburg.
